KDE no midi sound

I click a midi file to open it with KMid which launches and starts playing the piece but there is no sound. Under Settings, Midi-Setup I show the default /opt/kde3/share/apps/kmid/maps /gm.map
If I try to open Parole on it I get "Failed to connect: Conection refused". In fact NOT ONE of the offered (midi) menu apps work!... more »

Everytime I plug a usb stick in the dialogue pops up asking me what I want to do with it. Where do I set how long that dialog will stay up?

I found a solution. Sign on to KDE as root. When the Tablet is
plugged in a window appears with two choices. You have to be fast or
the window disappears. With some more fiddling you can list the files
in konqueror. Then it is a tedious process of copying one at a time
using the save as function of Konqueror.... more »

Customizations lost ..

I have no backup. I had a problem whereby I lost my mouse. As a result
I did a reset (reset button). When I rebooted, my desktop is back to the
initial default ( looks like gray scale sun rays coming out from lower
right hand corner) and all icons etc gone. Besides restoring some file from backups, is there any other way to restore my previous... more »

I managed to mess up my KDE desktop on my home file so that I want to
start
over with the original configuration. Deleteing the ~.kde file didn't
do it. Any suggestions? Slackware 14

kd3/4 picture viewer like kview, gwenview, kuickshow generate complex
postscript files that newer Brother Laser printer like HL5350 / HL5250 /
HL 5370 etc. don't "like". Printing a simple scanned document with 200
kByte lasts about 3 minutes using the ppd-file or the Brother

Hello.
I switched my desktop manager from Gnome v2.3 and KDE v4.4.5 in my over year old Debian stable box, but I am having problems accessing my secondary HDD (SSD is my primary drive) manually after rebooting/powering up my system. Problem saving alarm in kalarm 2.8.6-ak

When I try to save an new email alarm in kalarm I keep getting a message
"You must select a calendar to save the alarm in". I do have a calendar
highlighted. I've even chmod 777 the relative .ics file. But I cannot get past that message. Anybody have a solution. I did import this ics file from a drive that had an older version of... more »

How to turn off confirmation of downloads in Pan 0.139

Pan 0.135
Each time I do a 'save article' a confirmation popup appears and
I have to confirm each download. How does one turn this feature
off ? I've looked through each Preference menu and can't find
how to do this.
