Eliminating akonadi

I use Slackware 13.37.
When I discovered that KDE4 was in large part a disaster area I have
been running XFCE. More recently I discovered Trinity, a clone of KDE
3.5. I also discovered that, thanks to my parallel Trinity install, I
can now run Quanta Plus under my 13.37 Slackware KDE4 gui. So that
is one objection to KDE4 gone. Of course there is still the
troublesome Akonadi program which slows down the boot and requires
that Kmail4 to be booted twice, once to get the spurious Akonadi error
message and once to actually operate Kmail.
I have since switched to Claws-Mail. But since Quanta Plus for some
reason now works under KDE4
I may switch to KDE4, if and only if I can get rid of Akonadi. If I
simply delete the Akonadi program what bad effects if any will I
experience with KDE4? I will probably stick with Claws Mail so Kmail
is not an issue.
My reason for switching back to KDE4 is that the most recent versions
of Krita only run under KDE4, and swiitching GUIs every time I want to
use Krita is annoying.
Don't misunderstand, KDE4 is still inferior to 3.5 in many ways. But
any GUI serves primarily as a program launcher, and I am looking for a
combo whereby I can use all my programs, including Quanta Plus, Krita
etc. without too much grief from the GUI.
