Hi,
kd3/4 picture viewer like kview, gwenview, kuickshow generate complex
postscript files that newer Brother Laser printer like HL5350 / HL5250 /
HL 5370 etc. don't "like". Printing a simple scanned document with 200
kByte lasts about 3 minutes using the ppd-file or the Brother
cupswapper. Old Brother laser like HL5140 (6 years old) print the
document within 10 seconds. Any idea how to convince kde applications to
print "raw"?
Printing the same pic (scanned dokument) with
lp -d hl5350 -o size=A4 -o scaling=100 myscan.png
works also within 10 sec. Only the way printing from kde applications
lasts about 3 minutes.
Printing in kde applications to pdf, then printing the pdf to HL5350
works fine, within 10 sec.
Using a laserjet4.ppd (PCL!) instead of brothers ppd the pics are
printed by kde application very fast, about 7 seconds , but pics are
only 80% of original size.
Printing to a Windows HL5350 printer queue is the only way I know to
print scanned document very fast. But who here wants to print that way?
Why do kde applications create complex postscript files?
