When I upgraded to Slackware 13.37 on my new flat screen monitor I had
a problem with Kcalc. The default
mode on the 21" monitor is 1920x1080. At that magnification level the
divide icon looks like a plus sign. I suggest that the former symbol
of "/" for divide be restored. Less elegant but more readable.

you may like to try a userspace workaround :-)
In Kcalc go to menu and pad Settings/ConfigureKCalc/Font/[Button Font]
then change ythe font and/or size and/or boldness as you like
(suggested "Liberation Sans" "Terminus" "Luxi Mono" etc.
