Does 'cp' support the '-L' option ?
POSIX 2004 (and perhaps earlier) requires 'cp' to support the '-L' option. [link] Can anyone with a tru64 system tell me if this is supported or not? It is not on my HP-UX machine, which makes me think it probably is not on tru64 either. Can... more »

protocol for installing drivers
I have some radeon cards that I know work on Alpha (at least in VMS) What files are pertinent to the Radeon driver? I mean - which files will need tweaking to run a Radeon 7000 instead of the 7500 The only real ldifference between these cards is a slightly slower speed GPU and the man ID The 7500 comes up as 0x5157 and the 7000 is 0x5159... more »

Shareware txt2pdf 10.0: preliminary utf8 support
We would like to announce txt2pdf 10.0 version. [link] txt2pdf is shareware; it is a very flexible and powerful Perl5 script that converts text files to PDF format files, so you can use it in every operating systems supported by Perl5, including Tru64. If you prefer we also can make an executable version for Tru64 (ask us... more »

LD_PRELOAD
Hi, this is the best match of newsgroups I could find, correct me if I am wring. my system is: ...OSF1 mymachine V5.1 2650 alpha Is there any (kernel) configureation needed in order to get LD_PRELOAD to work? Although I can't find a way to trace the loading of libs, a printf I inserted does not give any output and I don't get the result of what the inserted lib is... more »

Password policy
Hi, I'm trying to implement a password policy on Tru64 v5.1. Specifically, my password policy states that user password should be changed every year and should have 8 char with at least one of (lower, Upper, digits and special characters). Does anybody know if there is already something built-in? Or I need to... more »

Determine number of CPUs
Does anyone know the best way to determine the number of CPUs on AIX, HP-UX? (I'll extend the code to test on Tru64 and IRIX if anyone wants to give me the info, but that is hardly high on the priority list). The constraints are 1) It can be done from the shell. 2) It must not require root privileges... more »

White Box Alpha's and Tru64
The white box Alpha's are regular Alpha systems with a slightly limited srm console. These systems were sold as Windows NT only systems. The Digital Server 3000 is the equivalent of the Alpha Server 800 and the Digital Server 5305 is a modified Alpha Server 1200. I have a few 5305's and would like to run Tru64 on them.... more »
