Install fails on PWS 433au
I'm trying to install Tru64 5.1B-2 on a PWS 433au that has 1.5 GB of RAM, a 9 GB disk, and a S3 Trio64 2MB video card. I am able to boot the CD and it continues to where it complains about the time in the filesystem and about having no swap device, then states it's initializing the system for installation, where it comes back with... more »

Tru64 and memory expansion Opties / Update
The new memory for my Alphaserver 800 arrived today. 8 boards of 128 MB each. Removing the old memory boards and adding new ones was straightforward. The system started without any problems, though I noticed that step "eb" took considerably longer to complete. Next step, booting Tru64 which proved to be as painless as you all predicted.... more »

Will Tru64 automatically recognize the additional memory or do I need to change configuration files (beforehand)? I'm familiar with VMS but not experienced with Tru64, so an elaborate answer is appreciated :-)... more »

help..weird envmond issue
Have a weird issue on an old DS20 running Compaq Tru64 5.1 (Rev. 732) when I do a ps -ef i have a process listed as <defunct>. Whatever this is, a kill -9 on the pid doesn't kill it. It lists it a child of /usr/sbin/envmond -ui cli. Noticing that, I did a /usr/sbin/ envconfig stop/start. When envconfig is stopped, the envmond and the... more »
