protocol for installing drivers

I have some radeon cards that I know work on Alpha (at least in VMS)

What files are pertinent to the Radeon driver?
I mean - which files will need tweaking to run a Radeon 7000 instead of the
7500
The only real ldifference between these cards is a slightly slower speed GPU
and the man ID
The 7500 comes up as 0x5157 and the 7000 is 0x5159


please advise asap if you happen to have played with this scenario before
