Scrambled display
|
| |
Hello I've just installed Solaris 10 (10/09) on x86, but I can't connect to it as the display is totally scrambled. The video card is a geforce 210. According to Sun docs, the last release of Solaris contains the nvidia drivers. I tried to boot in fail safe mode, but I can't find the xorg.conf nor... more »

Anyone know of a USB or Ethernet controlled switch for Solaris?
|
| |
I would like to be able to turn an old HP C3600 workstation on and off from my house, when it is located in the garage. The machine does not support wake up on LAN or anything clever. There is no remote management console either. There is however a power switch on the front panel, which I believe is... more »

Can't expand zfs pool with new devices
|
| |
So I've got a RAIDZ dataset, consisting of six 9GB drives in a multipack. One by one, I offline and replace them with 18GB drives. Unfortunately, the size didn't increase after the last resilvering, as I thought it would. Is there anything I can do to 'kick' the zpool, and make it recognise that it now has double the space?... more »

Enable rsh or other way for fast file transfer
|
| |
I have two Sun workstations which I want to copy a lot of data between - one Sun is quite old, the other is new. 1) Sun Blade 2000, 2 x 1200 MHz SPARC 2) Sun Ultra 27. Quad core 3.33 GHz Xeon. I've stuck a Gigabit Ethernet card in the Blade 2000, so these have a gigabit connection between them. Transferring a 1000 MB file via ssh is taking 49 seconds (20 MB/s), compared to... more »

disk group cannot be imported after abnormal reboot
|
| |
Hi, Solaris version: 8 VxVM version: 3.5 Disk group name: datadg_1 Existing datadg_1 (LUN0) is on storage1. We cloned datadg_1 (LUN0) to storage2 (LUN1). Since the datadg_1 (LUN1) on storage2 is outdated, we wanted to perform host-level mirror for datadg_1 from LUN0 to LUN1 through VxVM. So we assigned the LUN1 to storage1. Before we started the mirror, the machine suddenly rebooted. I now removed LUN1 from storage1 and did try to issue the command # vxdg -tCf import datadg_1 but failed. It showed vxvm:vxdg: ERROR: Disk group datadg_1: import failed: Disk group has no valid configuration copies.... more »

IP_BOUND_IF
|
| |
Solaris 10 update 6, no additional patches. I'm trying to make Apache send outbound TCP packets through the same interface on which incoming packages were received. It seems IP_BOUND_IF socket option can do the trick, although ip(7p) man page is somewhat unclear: IP_BOUND_IF Limit reception and transmission of pack-... more »
