I have installed Solaris 10 OS as a guest os using VM Player in Windows 7(Host OS). Now I want to install Solaris Studio 12 in my guest OS. How to do this. My system is using x86 based 32 bit processor.

No default OOB large page support on Solaris 11.1 x64

is there a reason why OOB large page support is still disabled on
solaris 11.1 x64?

IIRC Intel CPUs nowadays support 4k, 2M (and some Xeons also 1G) pages
and Linux runs happily with transparent hugepages for a while now...

How to backup machine for new OS?

Hi guys I have a Solaris 10 development box and I can't install Solaris
Studio 12.3 because of missing patches. Looks like the latest Solaris has
the necessary patches already so maybe the easy way is to install that on
this box. What is the best way to backup my /export/home and other locally

It's been there since the system was installed, on a couple of machines,
but no man page for it. Apprently written by an outfit calling themselves

Solaris 11 ntp multicast client - no association IDs returned

I have multiple NTP servers which broadcast at 224.0.0.1 and work correctly with multiple Solaris 6 and Solaris 10 clients on our network.
I just installed Solaris 11.1 (both Sparc and x86) and copied /etc/inet/ntp.client to ntp.conf and restarted ntp service, and is now ntp:default is online.... more »
