Hi all,

Just a daft question: On the sunfire v210 server, if there is a power
outage, will the server boot up again automatically when the juice
comes back on.

Had an a conversation with a customer at a remote site, and he was
sure it just sat at the ALO prompt, and had to issue a "boot" via
serial terminal to get the system going again.

Is this kind of info listed anywhere? I had a quick shufty on
docs.sun.com but nothing sprang up.

TIA.

P.

ALOM has some power state logic that will power system on when the
'juice' returns if the system was previously powered on. It will remain
off if the system was off when the power was removed.

This sounds like an OBP parameters issue. You need
auto-boot?=true
boot-command=boot
and boot-device or diag-device to the boot device

It's hidden somewhere. ;-)

Does it not boot (ie, drops to OBP), or not power on at all?
If it doesn't power on, can you just run "poweron" from the ALOM to fix it,
or do you need to use the controls on the front of the machine?
How old is the V210?

i found the problem the LOM variable "sc_powerstatememory" was set to false.
and power is ofcourse always off in any situation,
# /usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/scadm set sc_powerstatememory true
fixed my situation.
strange that SUN delivers these V210's with an not wanted setup ?
