My monitor is a DAEWOO CMC-1424X, 1024x768 (Non-interlace)
I've detected a Trident TGUI96xx video adapter
Currently I use Standard VGA at 640x480 16-color but would
like to move to SVGA 1024x768 256-color.

I did get the higer resolution temporarily until I rebooted.
How can I set it up permanently?

Issue a 'mkdev graphics' command. This will allow you to select
what Video Card you're using, what display type you are using, and
finally what resolutions you can choose from.
