February 12, 1996 ... SCO is now accepting orders for the SCO UnixWare
2.1 Personal Edition. Upgrades from previous versions of UnixWare are
also orderable with supporting proof of purchase. Product and

PRODUCT NAMES: SCO UnixWare 2.1 Personal Edition
SCO UnixWare 2.1 Processor Upgrade
DESCRIPTION: The SCO UnixWare 2.1 Personal Edition is a single-user
desktop/workstation configuration of UNIX System V Release 4.2MP
that does not accept user license upgrades. It can effectively be
used as a development workstation or as a highly-reliable client
platform for business critical client/server applications. In an
environment when frequent desktop reboots are not an option, the SCO
UnixWare 2.1 Personal Edition makes sense.
The SCO UnixWare 2.1 Processor Upgrade incrementally enables
additional processors beyond the supported 2-processors built-in to
the SCO UnixWare 2.1 Personal Edition.
Included with the SCO UnixWare 2.1 Personal Edition is a 30-day
evaluation version of SCO UnixWare 2.1 Advanced Merge. A fully-
functioning, non-evaluation version of SCO UnixWare 2.1 Advanced
Merge is optionally available.

AVAILABILITY: First customer shipments of the SCO UnixWare 2.1
Personal Edition and the SCO UnixWare 2.1 Processor Upgrade are
anticipated to begin on February 19, 1996. First customer shipments
of the upgrades to the SCO UnixWare 2.1 Personal Edition from v2.0
or v1.1 are anticipated to begin in March, 1996.

systems based on 386 (>25MHz), 486, Pentium or Pentium
Pro processors and Industry Standard Architecture

Component Interface Architecture (PCI).
RAM: 12MB minimum
Disk Space: 150MB minimum
Media: CD-ROM or QIC-150 tape drive required for local
installation, 3.5" diskette drive also required

NOTES:
1. Upgrades from UnixWare v2.0 and v1.1 to SCO UnixWare 2.1
require supporting proof of purchase; such as, return of serialized
boot diskette, or copy of original invoice receipt. Contact your
SCO supplier for ordering details.

upgrades include an upgrade to SCO UnixWare 2.1 Advanced Merge.

for additional information.
2. Packaged upgrades to SCO UnixWare 2.1 are only available by
ordering the upgrade model numbers listed in this Product
Announcement. Subscription ordering information for SCO Software
Enhancement Service (SES) on SCO UnixWare 2.1 will be announced in
late February, 1996. These SCO SES subscriptions will provide a
means for receiving upgrades to future versions of the SCO UnixWare
Personal Edition, as well as automatically delivering product release
supplements, advanced hardware supplements, and the SCO Software Support
Library on a scheduled basis.
3. Standalone product documentation for SCO UnixWare 2.1 is being
made available for purchase in hardcopy form. A separate
announcement will be issued shortly detailing titles, pricing, and
ordering information.
4. Effective immediately, upgrades to SCO UnixWare v2.0 are no
longer available.
5. Effective April 1, 1996, UnixWare v1.1 will no longer be
available.
