Not a web site or an ebook, but I recommend Solaris Systems Programming. Naturally, I'm justa little bit biased because I wrote it, but nearly all reviews I've seen of it are overwhelmingly positive (e.g., www.cuddletech.com/articles/ssp_review).

You willfully violate the Netiquette (having been informed that your sig was over-sized in the past) and only post on the Usenet to spread your illegal ad around.
Now you've thrown in a sales pitch too.
Need I point out to the OP and others that it would be a mistake to trust the information in a book written by someone that obviously lacks morals? What do you care if he trashes his own or someone else's system?

By what definition? I can think of two definitions for spam. 1) multiple posting of off-topic information to an unnecessarily large set of unrelated forums. 2) Unsoliticed email.
He's done neither. He provided a valid, and potentially useful, response to a request (i.e. solicited) for information.

You can't be serious, ROTFLMAO...
You've got your own definition of morality as well as spam it appears.

Pretty broad topic. System vendors tend to have a lot of developer info on line. For example, docs.sun.com has a lot of documentation, including guides as opposed to reference manuals. IBM and HP have similar sites.

Well, Alan, at least he appears to be posting with his real name, not some fake one. At least be smart enough to cover up your default footer when you are trolling... :)
