How to build a custom BSD distro
Hi, I have seen many ways on releasing a customized GNU/Linux distro. But how can I build a new distro (possibly a live distro with install feature) based entirely on BSD (FreeBSD) with a graphical user interface (gnome) and customized packages. Since BSD's are a true OS that's rock stable and secure as well as... more »

ANN: dh, the daemon helper 2009-09-12 11:11
dh, the daemon helper 2009-09-12 11:11 Yet another fix, to prevent attacks using world writable files. It think this version covers all the security issues. But who knows, UNIX and C are a security minefield. I invite code review, but I don't have time for ng trolls; if you have concerns, email me. My real email address is in this post, and on the... more »

different levels of compatibility in bsd systems
Hello. I am author of one compiler for x86 which I also ported to FreeBSD, and intent to port to other BSD systems as well. So, my questions are... 1) I know that all BSD systems are derived from the one ancestor and probably kernels have a lot of similarities. What I interested in is are all system calls (kernel syscalls, not... more »
