Yet another Flash 9 Problem, both Linux-Opera and Linux-Firefox

So, has *anyone* gotten Flash 9 working with either Opera or Firefox?
I just installed FBSD 7.0-BETA2 on a new machine, and just like my
up-to-date 6.2 machine, Flash 9 [linux-firefox + linx-flashplugin-9]
crashes whenever it encounters Flash code, and linux-opera +
linux-flashplugin-9 just sits ther and looks dumb [and won't play].

Now, I realize there is a thread from August where someone named Lars
says "works for me", but I call BS.

I also don't think that it is a 7.0-BETA2 problem, because the behavior
is exactly the same on both the 6.2 and the 7 machine.

Normally, I wouldn't care about Flash [I'd watch it at work on my XP
machine], but this is for my wife.

Why not just run Winders at home? I can't support it [either
financially or technically] any more. Been doing *BSD machines at work
and home since 1999, so I am much more comfortable with them.

How can I help my lovely wife watch the Daily Show [and YouTube]
online? Thanks.

Well, you could go to one of those youtube video converter websites
and download the clip to the pc.

see http://www.techcrunch.com/get-youtube-movie/

or type something like youtube + download into a search engine and use
another service - some of them claim to download to a format of your
choice.

you will get an flv file which you can play with totem.

Not a perfect solution but....

Is Miro running on FreeBSD? That's a far more civilised way to watch
youtube &c than in a web browser anyway.

Under 7.0-BETA2 with
http://people.freebsd.org/~thierry/ports/Miro-0.9.9.9.tgz

Replacing 0.9.9.9 with 1.0 in Makefile and changing md5, sha256 and file
size in distinfo:

MD5 (Miro-1.0.tar.gz) = 5e99b8e8d5393eb1231e47513c3954e3
SHA256 ((Miro-1.0.tar.gz) =
f7e5d2639e089a22b7295e48a81ad35ac3e36e0ff695df3fe4da35a0844ce43d
SIZE ((Miro-1.0.tar.gz) = 12308780

work great for me.

I have updated a new version for 1.0 (it fixes pkg-plist) at
<http://people.freebsd.org/~thierry/ports/Miro-1.0.tgz>

but this is still an experimental port: it works on some machines, but
fails on others (Python core dumps)! I've not yet found the cause of the
problem, and any help is welcome.
