What happens on unsupported machines?

I have an LC 520, currently running some early version of System 7. What can
I expect to happen if I try installing A/UX on it? Will it just do nothing?
Or is there a risk of data loss? Some weird kind of hardware failure? Will
its head spin around while it spews pea soup? Or is there some chance that it
might actually install?

Is anybody willing and/or able to answer?

My best guess is that the A/UX installer will not let you install the
OS on an unsupported Mac.

Here is a list of supported Macs for each version of A/UX:

Like it'll probably give me some sort of error saying "unsupported machine,
sucks to be you"?

Yes, I've seen that, along with the FAQ. They don't say what happens on
unsupported machines, thus my question.

- Why would you say something that horrible?
- I dunno, reflex?

I suspect you would probably lose video at some point... Most likely very
early in the installation process. A/UX interacts directly with the
hardware, so it reacts very badly to unsupported devices. Please, give it
a shot, and let us know what you encounter!

I'll try it under emulation first (Basilisk II under WinXP), see what happens
there. (The previously-mentioned machine is my only Mac right now; don't want
to completely bork it just yet.)
