multiple copies to print using qprt command
We have a couple of printers attached with serial cables to our AIX 5L system. One printer is network capable so I have prepared a queue for TCP/IP printing. The queue works but every time a print job is submitted with -N copies, only one copy is sent to the printer. I use the "lpr" command and the same thing, only one copy is sent.... more »

Question: How to check that memory page is filled by zeros when a process gets it in first time?
I have to check whether AIX fills physical memory pages by zeros when they are given for a new process (or may be when they are freed from an address space, but it's hardly probable). In other words when a process gets a new memory page, this one must be cleaned. I've solved this issue for Solaris using DTrace.... more »

Virtual Fiber and Virtual SCSI?
Guys Now as we have virtual fiber concept on Power6 , what is the best way to allow client partitions to access SAN based disks through VIO? I mean whether to use virtual scsi ( old way) or to use virtual fiber ( NPIV)? Any guidelines from IBM ? Regards

Problem with Console and graphics 7029-6c3 and AIX 6.1
Has anyone else run into this problem? Typically, I use a serial port connection to start my 7029-6c3 pseries system ( sms, etc) which prompts me to "select 0 for a system console" and AIX 6.1 boots. This works if a video card and standard PS/2 style keyboard aren't installed. However, I have the following issues if a video card (gxt300) and PS/2... more »

Question: Linux for Pseries 615 RS6000
Which debian based linux distro supports power4+ systems? Typically I use Linux Mint but don't think they have a port for power. I enjoy AIX but may also install a 64 bit Linux on my RS6000 as well. Please recommend a Linux 64 bit distro that also supports KDE v4 and Gnome. PS - Please list a download link so I can burn a Linux 64 bit iso image.... more »
