1) No. Decentralized Servers without any significant connection 
2) Maybe, but the procedure needed a "file-by-file" storage of
   about 1-2 Million files 
3) I will take a look at one machine today (Thursday) and check
   what connections (USB, Firewire, ext.SCSI) are possible
4) Unfortunately I can't check if the servers have this possibility
   Maybe I can give someone the task to check this.
   A single Hot-swapable drive will be a solution, if possible
   at all servers 

The first thing comming in my mind was an external (mountable) drive,
as I remember this as possible. And as far as I remember I did it once
with a USB stick.
