Thank you both for computing this. Solaris on SPARC gives a different
value as you can see if Sun Studio is used. In fact, it gives a
different value with gcc if a slightly more complex program is
compiled. It would appear that in this case, gcc can inline this, so
does not need to make a call to the maths library.

My J50 has 3 dual-cpu cards and I believe I have another spare, as Pete
Backhouse dropped out of contact before collecting the spare J50 I'd picked
up for a song. It'll take me some time to get around to analysing and
photographing the cards, but I would guess that it would mostly be signal

I'm curious about the CPU cards as used on the 7013-J50, 7015-R50, SP2
High Node, etc.
There were a TON of FRUs for the 200MHz part. I saw an ancient post
on this group that said IBM had a lot of trouble with the design of
this card.
After the 'X4D', it seems it was replaced by the '4EG'. I have 3 X4D

Is there anyone with access to a native IBM C compiler who could tell

The point is we don't have any free disk space to increase either VG.
That's why I was looking for a way to merge the 2 VGs into a single
one without having to backup/restore data.
The (rather stupid) way it has been designed, we have a full disk

Thanks for answering.
There is no deliberate choice from us to have only 1 LV/FS per VG.
It's just the way it has been done on that particular server.
Had it been thought of before, we would have created 1 VG for the two
LV/FS, and wouldn't have had any problem reducing one of them to
extend the other...

Hi !
Is there any way to merge 2 PVs belonging to 2 *different* VGs into 1
VG *without* losing data already stored in the 2 PVs ?
I'm working on AIX 5.3 ML4.
I've got 2 different VGs, each with only one PV. Each VGs contains
only one LV/FS (jfs2) + the jfslog LV.
