IBM states, "The character set description (charmap) source file
defines character symbols as character encodings. The /usr/lib/nls/
charmap directory contains charmap source files "
But I have no charmap directory or any such source files.
How do I get them?????

A
$ which_fileset /usr/lib/nls/charmap
gives
/usr/lib/nls/charmap bos.loc.adt.locale 6.1.0.0
So in case you are talking about /usr/lib/nls/charmap please install
"bos.loc.adt.locale" from your installation source.

Thanks for the help. Now I have tried using localefef to create a non
public locale but I get heaps of messages being thrown - e.g. File
en_GB.ISO8859-1.src, LINE:1079 CHAR: 1 Locale does not conform to
POSIX specifications ....
All I want to do, if for an individual user, have a dollar sign ($)
displayed as a pound sterling sign (£) and I have no access to the
source file of the program.
