Regarding how to deal with illegal alien motorists who run over and kill
American children, Bryan wrote:

Did Joel Garry (email: joel_...@compuserve.com and homepage:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/joel_garry/) of Vista, California (San
Diego County), who says he likes to "kibbitz" in the newsgroup
comp.unix.advocacy as well as post in comp.databases.oracle.* actually write
(in the ca.driving newsgroup on 1/1/99):

"I don't like children, so it's all right by me if they run over
them
with impunity."

?

Seeing as how you wrote this in the form of a question, I'll answer it
seriously, even though I should flame you bigtime for spreading rumors like
this. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are a newbie
AOLer and don't understand the seriousness of posting off topic untrue
rumors that can quite easily be checked. You see, I use unix, so I'm
not dependent on silly AOL software that leads those fertile young minds
down the primrose path sullied with the lost threads of fertilizer. In
the unix world, you can actually LOOK STUFF UP YOURSELF, even though some
cowardly types hide behind x-no-archive (which is an optional header
field that the website www.dejanews.com honors to not keep postings and
clueless people think they can't be found later). So, I look up the actual
post in question, and I see these headers:

>From q...@ooo.org Wed Feb 3 00:46:17 1999

So, if you were to understand attribution, you would see I wrote the line
that ends "...have I got a document for you!" and nothing else. The
next couple of lines in the post _I_ made were http references to the
US Constitution, the first being a Chinese version (which of course even most
clued-in might not understand).

So hopefully, now you see there is a risk to x-no-archive and won't use it,
and only post things that you don't care if your future employer sees it.
Read comp.risks and the privacy groups and figure out the value of non-
repudiation. Now go to dejanews, search on alt.adopt*.* and authors with
a q and an idt.net in their address, go to one of the posts, then click on
"author posting history" and read some of the posts and see if you think
that might be the person who posted that they don't like children. And if
you are going to post rumors, post where exactly you got them.

Now, fuck off and die.

Actually, I wrote it to Jeff...@aol.com or something, but it may well
be the same cretin.

Well, there's always a bigger fool! :) And of course, that particular post
was being written to an idiot level. I just wish my posts from pre-dejanews
days were available. Ah, well. They ocassionally pop up in the weirdest
places.
