indeed: it would appear that more source indications in the faq itself
would be more helpful.

fortunately, this is one of the avenues i'm already working on (there
are code snippets in all the recently created/updated answers). i've
also toyed with the idea of links to the companion examples, which
have the advantage of actually being usable as they stand.
