Also: what version of metapost and supp-pdf.tex? And for good
measure, what version or the file pdftex.def and even of pdftex
itself. It might also be helpful to see the file ch3.5 itself.
And finally, a minimal .tex file, and any information about how
it and the .mp file are processed. Metapost doesn't usually put

The error message is most likely from supp-pdf.tex which is used by
pdflatex to convert metapost eps into pdf. The error is either a bug in
metapost or supp-pdf. Can you post the metapost file used to create ch3.5?

Hi.
I am trying to produce a blackboard bold semicolon. My test file is as
follows:

Thanks Jorge! I switched to XeTeX because it offers a better Unicode
solution and it has been working very well for me. I will look into
setspace and also play a bit more with your other suggestion. There
must be a way to control minipages better.

I am trying to build a listing enviroment that produces an indexed
text at the end, as the following silly example:

The text would be good if numbered (indexed) by section, e.g.
1. First (Doc. #3.1)

I'm getting the error message in the subject line and I'm having
trouble getting rid of it.
I have a book that I've compiled in the past with latex/dvips and it
works fine. I'd like to simplify the workload with pdflatex. These
lines:
many members of the domain.

\includegraphics{ch3.5} % bean to bean; many to one

The following modified example seems to work fine.

Sorry, Arash, I tried it but I don't use XeTeX and many other features
you make use... but it seems to me that the problem doesn't concern
ledmac. So, I would sugest you to open another post asking about how
to control spaces and minipages. And, if you don't mind, I would tell
you to avoid setspace.sty until you get it and try first fixed spaces

Sorry to call for help once again!
With your help I could write a similar macro working perfectly for
"normal", short tables.
However, when adapting the code to longtables I have troubles.
The code won't compile, but the log doesn't show any problem.
Can you please help me?

Thanks. That is indeed a good point. I tried your suggestion and it
produced a different layout than intended and introduced some other
problems. I have a complex layout and will try to explain and attach
an example.
I use \begin{compactdesc} to divide my text in lines. Let's say, if
the first portion of text has 3 lines, then they should appear

Yes, the column declaration must be given explicitely, not hidden
in a macro.

Strange brace removal

The TeX command
${a_b}_c$
gives what one expects, namely two indices, the second a little lower.
One would expect that
${\hat{a}_b}_c$
looks similar, with a hat on the $a$. In reality, one gets a "Double

that \cmdMG@table@defcolumns is expanded before
\begin{tabularx}{\textwidth} is looked at. So for example:
