ledgroup not breaking across pages

Hello All,

I am using ledmac's ledgroup environment and familiar footnotes to
typeset a critical edition of short texts. As a result the two column
apparatus of each text appears below it. This works indeed very well.
The problem is, however, that the apparatus does not break across
pages. Most of the texts are not more than 4 lines long. But as soon
as the apparatus grows over the remaining space of an A4 paper, XeTeX
moves it to a new page, leaving me with lots of ugly white space after
each text.

Is there a way around this problem?

Many thanks in advance, any help is highly appreciated.

\ledgroup is in fact a minipage. At these cases you could simply try
to avoid \ledgroup and let the text run, but at the end, you'll need
to break the page in order to avoid mixing critical and main text, and
depending on the amount of text, you'll have white spaces too. If it
doesn't work, please put an example here, so we can reproduce it.

Sorry, Arash, I tried it but I don't use XeTeX and many other features
you make use... but it seems to me that the problem doesn't concern
ledmac. So, I would sugest you to open another post asking about how
to control spaces and minipages. And, if you don't mind, I would tell
you to avoid setspace.sty until you get it and try first fixed spaces
(\kern command, but pay attention if it's in vertical mode!). Look,
for instance inside setspace.sty the command \onehalfspacing:

\newcommand{\onehalfspacing}{%
\setstretch{1.25}% default
\ifcase \@ptsize \relax % 10pt
\setstretch {1.25}%
\or % 11pt
\setstretch {1.213}%
\or % 12pt
\setstretch {1.241}%
\fi
}

It's for stretch the space!

Goodluck,

Thanks Jorge! I switched to XeTeX because it offers a better Unicode
solution and it has been working very well for me. I will look into
setspace and also play a bit more with your other suggestion. There
must be a way to control minipages better.

Thanks again,
