thanks for the upload; i've installed the new version, and updated the
catalogue repository.

Great thing! Thanks.

Does anyone know if this new version can also be used in conjunction
with 'newtx' (in particular \usepackage[libertine]{newtxmath})?

I believe Michael Sharpe (newtx developer) is working on that but it may
not be ready yet.

Thanks to both of you. These are very nice and useful font projects.

I found that

http://mirror.ctan.org/install/fonts/libertine-type1.tds.zip

contains not only libertine-type1.map but also full-blown mapfiles
locally generated by updmap. These mapfiles should not come with the
install archive, should they?

No. That was a mistake on my part; autoinst is a little *too* automatic!
I've already uploaded revised tds.zip files to CTAN but they're likely
not installed yet. Thanks for reporting the problem.

I cannot see the sense of deleting the file libertine.sty.
It could still be present as

\RequirePackage{libertine-type1}
\RequirePackage{biolinum-type1}

All documents anf there are a lot which uses a \usepackage{libertine}
are broken otherwise.

Not if libertine-legacy is installed. But they may be broken if
your wrapper were provided because libertine-type1 is certainly not
guaranteed to work like the existing (very idiosyncratic) libertine.sty.
Users can certainly try your suggestion but I'm not going to force it on
them.

I am using current TL and there is no more a libertine-legacy ...
I know that I can it reinstall from CTAN, but that is what I called
not a good idea.

Another remark:
\usepackage{libertine-type1}
\usepackage{biolinum-type1}

sets my \familydefault to biolinum, because the order of the
packages is important. I think the redefinition of \familydefault
should be done by the user.

That must have happened overnight and is perhaps premature.

For now, I'll just add some remarks to the READMEs about this. To
simplify maintenance I'm hoping I won't have to start fiddling with the
style files produced. I've already asked the autoinst developer to add
several options to avoid defaults which force me to do much fiddling
with the resulting tds tree.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Are the
- Biolinum-Outline-Font
- Biolinum-Shadow-Font
- Biolinum-Key-Font

available with biolinum-type1?

Regards

Imho he should simply remove these "\renewcommand\familydefault..."
lines. It doesn't make sense if every font generated by autoinst
tries to set the familydefault.

No. They might be in libertineotf and of course in
libertine-legacy.

Yes, they are in libertineotf. Since libertine-legacy was removed from
TL 2012 (which was a document breaking change for me :( ) I wondered if
I could use them without having to reinstall libertine-legacy or having
to use Xe-/LuaLaTeX. I guess not, then.

Well you could get the otfs from

https://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxlibertine/files/linuxlibertine/5.3.0/

and apply autoinst to them. You may want to get the latest version
of the lcdf-typetools (2.95). Earlier versions crash on the italic
Libertine fonts because of several multiply-defined glyphs. If there's
sufficient demand, I might try to create a libertine-extras package for
these "unusual" fonts.

OK. By popular demand, I'm uploading revised packages in which the
style files do not change the fontencoding or the family default.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The Biolinum Keyboard font is available in otf and I think I can
make it available in type1 form. I have no idea how the Outline
and Shadow series of Biolinum were produced for what is now called
libertine-legacy. The fontinst scripts used by the developer aren't
AFAIK available. This is likely why TeXLive have dropped
libertine-legacy: without those scripts, the package isn't free
software.

That would make sense.
