The package arev provides Type 1 fonts, virtual fonts, and LaTeX packages
for using Arev Sans for both text and mathematics. Arev Sans is a
derivative of Bitstream Vera Sans created by Tavmjong Bah by adding
support for Greek and Cyrillic characters. Bah also added a few variant
letters that are more appropriate for mathematics. The primary purpose for
using Arev Sans in LaTeX is presentations, particularly when using a
computer projector. Arev Sans is quite readable for presentations, with
large x-height, "open letters," wide spacing, and thick stems. The style
is very similar to the SliTeX font lcmss, but heavier.

Hi,

The doc of AREV shows promising results for writing transparencies. Thanks
for providing this package.

Unfortunately, I do not succeed to install AREV properly.

I must mention that I have already installed a lot of different fonts and
thought to be used to all the problems that can occur during font
installation under TeX.

Unfortunately, when installing AREV, it seems that my system is missing a
file MDAcmr.fd.

I did google a little and found no reference about such a file. A search
in CTAN is also unsuccessful.

Should this file be included in the arev archive or come from another
package?

If needed, here are some more details.

arevtext.sty and beramono.sty loaded alone are working properly.
It seems that the problem comes from ams-mdbch.sty that defines
\DeclareFontEncoding{MDA}{}{}
\DeclareFontSubstitution{MDA}{cmr}{m}{n}
without providing a file MDAcmr.fd

Should this file be generated from some DTX file or Makefile?

I had the same problem. MDAcmr.fd is part of the mathdesign package. Iirc,
you'll have to install mathdesign since arev requires some fonts of md-bch
in order to work properly.

There seem to be some missing virtual fonts, namely favmr7t, favmr7y and
favmri7m, without which equations in arevmath come out scrambled. The
tfm-files are present, so LaTeX is happy but both Yap and dvipdfm
complain (the latter rather disgracefully).

Many thanks. It solved my problem (I only installed the bch set --- zip
file--- from the mathdesign package).
