split landscape pdf
Does anyone know of any software which will take a landscape 2-up pdf page, (that is, the single page viewable on screen contains say pages 15 and 16 of the original material) and allow you to split it into two single pages? Ideally graphically (since the split doesn't come at exactly the same place on each page) and preferably free.... more »

pdftk - bad characters after flatten
Hi, we do have a problem when flattening a pdf trough pdftk. We are using some special characters (central european fonts - example: šľťž) that we desperately need, but after flatten these characters are replaced with an empty space. What we are exactly doing is importing a xfdf file in UTF format. Importing this to a pdf form file without... more »

Which one should we use: PDF Forms or Microsoft InfoPath?
I have seen the capabilities of PDF Forms. The application we are investigating involves converting paper forms (upon whose layout we have absolutely no control) to interactive forms. All the videos about InfoPath show how to convert "digital" documents (i.e. Word, Excel, XML) into fillable forms. We need to convert "analog" (i.e., a bunch... more »

Searching within large PDF files
Hello, I have a lot of books in PDF format and searching within these files with Adobe reader goes terribly slow. Indexing seems to be the solution, but the indexers I find don’t seem to be connected to a viewer that jumps to the corresponding offset in the pdf file. What is the best solution?... more »

Reformat PDF
Hi, I have a PDf document on A4 format and want to reduce it to A5 (but without reducing the font size) to be able to read it on my ebook reader. So I want less characters on a page, so in stead of 60 rows with 80 chars, I want 30 rows with 40 chars. I installed PDFill (free ware) but it's not clear how to accomplish what I... more »

Tools and methods to extract text from PDF files?
I am involved in a project which requires to store some text (programmatically) in PDF documents. I guess my first step would be to look at how Adobe does it. I was surprised to see that the text being discovered by the Adobe OCR phase is stored in a fashion in the PDF file, while the text discovered by another OCR company is stored... more »

Change font in pdfescape
Since I do not own a pdfeditor, I use pdfescape (http:// [link]) to edit pdf documents. This is a reasonable tool for my general needs. However, I can not seem to find how to change font of the text I input. Any help will be appreciated.
