Hi all,

I am looking for a tool like PStoPDF besides Ghostscript &
Distiller. Currently I am evaluation PStill. Do you think PStill is
good enough for producing a goof pdf output for every PS file that
comes at input. Do you know such other tools commercial or not besides
Ghost & Distiller?

Thank you,
Virgil

There is also Niknak which, if I remember correctly, is now the property
of Global Graphics and renamed Jaws.

GhostScript is good. Depending on which version you get you will be able to
do anything that Distiller can, but for free. Runs on MacOS, Windows and
Linux and other unices.

GhostScript is good, but doesn't have a simple interface or
installation. You might want to try an online version at
www.freeonlineapps.com.

What could be simpler than that?

I use ghostscript, but have had a number of installation and usage
issues with it. The latest several versions don't compile on my linux
machine. Maybe I don't have the right version of gcc or some other
library, but it doesn't work. I had to download several versions to
find one that compiled properly.

I also have tried to use ghostscript on windows. The windows version
didn't even include ps2pdf (or I couldn't find it).

On my Sun machine, it all works well.

I think the online options available from freeonlineapps.com or
ps2pdf.com are a good choice if you want to try out the software
without any hassle.

No need to actually compile it in most cases because there should be a
binary for your Linux distro. Download and install the RPM or whatever your
distro uses.

Probably is, or write your own script.
