Hi out there!

I have tried several times to create a template document that contains a
'table-of-content' that can be re-used. I have not succeeded :-(

Can anybody help me. E.g send me a nice template.

I basically only want to achieve this:

o the 'toc' to inherit the document head from the document.
o to adjust fonts, size, indentation and so on, on each line of the toc.
That is; Only change the default settings.

We do not have the 'catalouge-function'.

Regards
Henri Lubke

Please also post the answer here (if there is one!) I know I'd like
to hear it! I too am very frustrated with the apparently fixed format
of the generated TOC. Even with the Book Catalogs option, the tabs that
are inserted into the text are a problem.

A very simple way to have your TOC come out formatted correctly each time is
to do the following:

Create a toc once. Then format it the way you wish, be sure to save it.
Now close it and get into the property sheet and change it to a catalog.
A catalog that exports components only. Place the catalog just before the
place you'd normally place your Toc doc.

Now create a new toc and place it after the new toc cat then open it.
You'll find everything formatted perfectly.

This method assumes A. Your using a book license. B. You have your TOC
as an individual doc within your book.

Hope this helps.

Scott

No, No, No. Sorry, but my problem has to do with things like how many tabs
Ileaf is putting in the text of each line it adds to the TOC files. I want
one more than they have. (or was it one in a different place?) anyhow, I do
use a catalog, and it's wonderful, but not quite right.

Thanks anyhow.

I guess you mean "Book Catalogs" license, don't you? The book functionality
itself is available in even the basic license (without any add-ons).

We don't have a Catalog/Book loicense and I get on just fine using Smart
TOC (I'll post that next).

Here's the blurb:

W e l c o m e t o t h e S M A R T T O C !

This directory is the root of an Interleaf "Layered Application"
for a simplified table-of-contents ("Smart TOC") procedure,
stopping the hassle with re-formatted TOCs every time you
create them or manual inclusion in other docs if a standard
background frame is needed.

Features:
- automatic insertion of the newly generated TOC document(s) *into*
one or more documents (e.g. to have a standard header/footer/background)
- insertion based on "placeholder" components, fully flexible
- second run if number of pages has changed after insertion

Installation:
Just extract the shar archive by feeding into /bin/sh.
This creates the directory `stoc' with all other stuff underneath.
All this should happen in /interleaf/ileaf5/apps.
Then *restart* Ileaf5 and start the toolmgr to enable the tool,
which is in group `Alcatel' (which you might wish to change in
config.lsp).

There is an info-document included which you might wish to resave
in `fast' format. It is also possible that the .lo (compiled Lisp)
files do not extract properly. Re-compile if you have the possibility
(DTK license) or otherwise just delete them.

Have fun!
