Most of the advice given in this Adobe TechNote lines up with reality.
However,
there are a few glitches. For example:
Solution 1 advises us to "open the FrameMaker book file, and then
open a
document within the book."
Solution 1 continues by advising us to "Click Show/Hide," and then
to "select
Use Condition Indicators." I am guessing that they mean to "select
Show
Condition Indicators."
Solution 2 advises us to "Apply the desired Style and Color ..."
What criteria
should I use to guide me in the selection of the Style and the
Color?
Solution 2 also says to "Move all of the documents in the book to
the Update
field." How might I identify the Update field?
There are several other "strange wordings" such as where Solution 3
tells us
to "move the conditional text tag to the Show or Hide field." Does
this mean
that it does not matter which field (Show or Hide) we move it to, or
that all
conditional text tags should be moved to either the Show field or the
Hide
field, consistently?
As things stand now, I am left with the choice of either hitting the
enter key
about 30 times, to print, or create a PDF version, or checking a check
box
and hoping for the best.
Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't matter. Whatever looks good to you.

I have no idea what that means.

It means to make a choice. Or, you can leave it as is.
Look, let me give you the overview. What you are doing is this: Open a file
and chose the setting you want -- colors, show/hide, etc. You can also do
nothing. Then, distribute those settings across the rest of the book. That's
it!
