There is an urgent requirement for Unisys Cobol Developers/Analyst (13 Nos) for a large Health Care/Insurance customer. This is a remote support - work from home position with a duration of 12-24 months. The expected start is 1st week of March 2013.
Description
Perform detailed analysis, design, development, and implementation of enhancements to established business systems. Serve as member of a project team or as an individual contributor based on specific task assignment.
Provide computer program and system development and technical analysis for very complex, highly critical programs and systems. Plan and coordinate tests, resolve production problems, identify opportunities to improve systems and architecture.
Perform business systems development tasks, including: working with users and client technical resources to understand system needs and requirements; design solutions to meet business user needs; improve performance and stability of assigned system components. Design, code, test, debug and document program enhancements.
Understand concepts, principles and issues relating to mainframe COBOL and Burroughs / UNISYS based technologies and environments.
At least five to seven years experience in business systems development methods and tools or a specialty function or have demonstrated the necessary proficiencies to function in a senior-level capacity
Strong communication, project management and problem solving skills
Qualifications
Experience in business systems development methods and tools with a heavy focus on system analysis and root cause analysis.
Experience with Mainframe Unisys Clear path COBOL programming; experience with DMSII, COBOL85, COBOL74, WFL, and COMS.
Ability to work as part of a team or to be self-directed as required.
Good organizational and project management skills.
Prior experience working remotely as part of a high performing team.
Experience working within an Agile development methodology.
Prior experience with Algol, EA Sparks, PVCS, VS ALM, MicroFocus Enterprise Analyzer (previously called Modernization Workbench), OpCon enterprise Scheduler.
Prior experience debugging programs that were created using COBOL code generator xgen.
