Hi Gurus I have a question about incorporating startup and shutdown of multiple oracle instances into SMF. Is there a straight forward way of doing this and is there some sort of template available to do this? Hi All, I am trying to get a serial port connection going between a Sun M3000 server and an external PC so as to be able to deploy an electronic real-time data feed from the pc to the Sun server. I believe the cabling is ok The console port on the sun m3000 is RJ45 and an appropriate converter is in use along with the null modem cable, so I am told.... more »

Dear all, I am searching a protocol for transffrring files other than ftp between windows and Solaris 10. I search command line like rcp but , rcp is between unix platforms only . If non exist . Can I put ftp commands in a shell script as non- interactive command. Thanks

Hi there I'm trying to install solaris 10 on sparc ultra 10 After boot cdrom the systems try to come up, and I receive a warning: setting ufs_ninode to max value <value>... I've been tasked with getting backups working with an older ExaByte EZ17 tape library with a single Mammoth 2 tape drive in it, connected to a SunBlade 2000 with a single 12000 MHz Sparcv9 CPU and 1 GB of memory. Installing Sol10 from DVD - USB drive as flash archive source?

OK. First I managed to format the removable USB drive as UFS. Then I could mount it as a UFS drive and copy my flash archive file onto it. I've got another machine that I want to install Solaris 10 and use this flash archive. So I boot from DVD and was hoping to be able to specify the USB drive as location of flash archive. Got a 500Gb USB disk that I want to format as UFS (Cant use FAT32 because I want to put a large 18Gb file on there). Plugged in and did rmformat and it seems to be recognise. How do I format and mount as a filesystem?
