Solaris and Exceed

First off, I'm a Solaris newbie so please be kind :-) That being said, I am
trying to use exceed to access the CDE of my solaris box. I have the box
connected to my PC via a null modem cable for console stuff and the network
cable. When I run exceed with the xdmcp broadcast it finds my solaris
box,but when i choose it nothng happens. If I am connected to my console
session (via hyper term) i see this when i run xcdeeds broadcast:

* Suspending Desktop Login...
*
* If currently logged out, press [Enter] for a console login prompt.
*
* Desktop Login will resume shortly after you exit console session.

I thought that if I logged out of the hyperterm session exceed would work,
but I was wrong. Can anyone tell me what else I could try? Are there any
processes that need to be running on my sun box for this to work?
