Subject: Newbie Installation problems
I have just got an Ultra1 and am attempting to install solaris on it

However i am getting a "bad magic number in disk laber error" error when the
machine boots
with the solaris installation cd in the CD-rom i type a boot cdrom command
and the cdrom drive spins and i then get a Cant open boot device error

if i type a devalias command  it shows the CDROM as being /sbus/sunw,
fas@e,8800000/sde@6,0:f

My cd-rom drive is on SCSI id1

Am i right in thinking that firstly the disk in the unit requires some form
of a low level partition beforei can use it and secondly the openboot CDROM
alias is pointing to a device on scsi id 6

if so how do i sort my disk out and change the alias for the cdrom ? or am i
barking up the wrong tree

Thanks

Tim
