Spring-Time Retro-Computing Convention

Since there will be no C4 this year, I have looked into doing a convention here in Clarksville, TN at the Riverview Inn ([link]). It would be the last weekend of May, (25-27) and we'd have the room for 48 hours. It's a very nice facility in a great location near the Cumberland River and just minutes from shopping, dining and recreation for the family.... more »

Spectrum +2 Datacorder repair

I've just acquired a nice grey case +2 from eBay. I used to have one
of these when I was 13 and it's lovely to own one again. :)
It all works fine, although the datacorder seems rather the worse for
wear. It saves and loads without any trouble, but the mechanism makes
rather nasty grinding noises and the whole thing seems rather worn... more »

Remember Gerton Lunter's "Z80" Spectrum emulator from the 1990s?
I seem to recall a proposal (or even a Z80 release) long ago, relating to the use of extended/undocumented Z80 instructions to perform operations outside the emulator -- a bit like how a TZX file can give instructions to the emulated tape recorder.... more »

Sandy QXT-640 (Sinclair QL) Revived

I have managed to revive a Sandy QXT-640 computer - and have listed it
on sellmyretro.com. The QXT-640 was basically a Sinclair QL put into a
box, complete with some of the Sandy peripherals, a mouse, external PC
keyboard and twin disk drives.
