1998 Adventurer`s Convention

Hello everyone in C.S.S.
There are no doubt quite a few of you who still play adventure games,
either on actual Spectrums or under emulation on your Amiga`s and PC`s,
etc. You may therefore be interested to hear about the Adventurer`s
Convention, which has been held every October in Birmingham for the last
8 years.
The Convention is being held in the Ariel suite at the Royal Angus
Thistle Hotel, St. Chad`s, Queensway, Birmingham B4, on Saturday 24th
October 1998, and covers all formats from Spectrums to PC`s. Tables are
available if you wish to bring your own computer, indeed we depend on
those attending to bring their computers, so the more the merrier! You
are also welcome to bring hardware and/or software (no pirates please!)
to sell and tables are available for this purpose also.
The event attracts adventure enthusiasts from all over the UK, including
Northern Ireland, and the atmosphere is always very friendly and
informal. Many of us stay overnight at the hotel for one or two nights
and the evenings can be just as lively and interesting as the convention
itself!
During the day we have a competition running known as "Megapoints", in
which each contestant has 20 minutes playing time at a specially written
Spectrum text adventure, played on Spectrum +3`s, with the object of
scoring as many points as possible. The 3 highest scoring contestants
will win cash prizes and special certificates. The adventure this year
is being written by Jon Scott, author of various adventures released by
Zenobi Software.
Talking of authors there will be several adventure authors at the
convention, including myself (FSF Adventures), Martin Freemantle
(DreamWorld Adventures), Bob Adams (author of "GrueKnapped!"), Karen
Tyers, Peter Clark and, as mentioned, Jon Scott.
Tickets are available now and if you purchase yours before 30th June it
will be at the reduced price of 6 ukp. Thereafter, and if you pay on the
door on the day, the price will be 7 ukp. Tickets may be purchased in

Hotel accommmodation: If you are attending the convention and wish to
stay overnight, the hotel is offering reduced rates, which are:
Single Room with full English breakfast: 37.50 ukp per night.
Double/Twin Room with full English breakfast: 32.50 ukp per person, per
night.
NOTE: The convention is on the weekend before the Birmingham Motor Show,
and although the hotel has promised to reserve some rooms for those
attending the convention, you are strongly advised to book your room AS
ERALY AS POSSIBLE to avoid disappointment.
