On a side note, I wasn`t able to find manuals for any of the Speccy art
packages on WOS or NVG. Anyone know where I can find them, or are they just
not available? I also have The Artist for Speccy, so if they`re not
available, I`ll can see about getting the manuals OCR'd.

X128 does a Kempston mouse emulation. Have never tried it out,
though...

I'm afraid so. I have started converting the Artstudio manual, but I
have to much workload with my PhD at the moment, to finish it.

Fantastic - I think I have a copy of that sitting around. Goody!

Well, I`ve got too much free time right now, so I was gonna go home and
pick up some stuff tonight, I think, including both manuals, if I can find
em.

I have a program in BASIC that does the same thing. Don't suppose you fancy
writing an export filter for Photoshop?

I guess you're not using the Artist 2 then which supports Kempston and AMX
mice.

X128, as previously mentioned, Warajevo I think, and WinZ80 supports AMX.

I have no idea. I do quite a lot of porting BMPs to SCRs using my own
software and I've created a modified version of the Artist 2 specifically
for the purpose. You shouldn't need a manual as it's fairly self
explanatory. I hate Art Studio and I can't understand why everyone else
raves about it. If you, or anyone elses, wants a copy email me.

SSpec (my emulator) did support the Kempston too, and I recall getting
the support working with Art Studio (one of the 3 art packages I
actually bought for the spectrum (and the first) - hey, they all had
their own 'advantages' it wasn't just feature duplication :)

I admit I'm biased. I bought Artist 2 after struggling with Paint Plus for a
few years. When I got an Atari ST I used NeoChrome which couldn't even draw
circles until I got Dega's Elite. I then moved onto SuperPaint on a Mac
before finally getting to Photoshop, which I used to customise the Artist 2.
My copy now feels more Mac-like (which is what Bo originally intended
according to his interviews). I like the way it works. I find Art Studio
cumbersome. I haven't tried any other art packages on the Spectrum although
I did use Deluxe Paint on Amiga and PC on my friends' computers.

I've been wondering that myself. I was away from css for about a year,
during which time Blood evidently disappeared. I've always been curious but
was worried I'd missed something obvious. So what ever happened to Blood
then?

Well, I wandered on home and picked up my copy of The Artist 1 which I`ve
actually rather gotten to like (it`s pretty good for attribute work, tho the
keyboard is a naff tool for detail) and Art Studio, which I haven`t used in
ages. Left my Speccies there tho - too much like hard work to lug them back
to the flat in the rain, especially when you consider the only fully working
one I still have is a 48k.
Getting slightly off subject here,
(a) My +2a's datacorder is knacked. Wasn`t there a cable for the +2a/+3
that let you use a normal tape deck? Other than the tape deck, it still
works fine, besides some cracks in the case.
(b) The Sinclair 128k I have seems to be working (makes the right clicky
sounds when you press the keys, but the picture is completely knacked (you
can just barely make out the basic shape of the 128k loader, which makes me
think the modulator is knacked. However, I have a whole box full of knacked
speccy 48k motherboards. Anyone know if I can use one of those?
Blimey, just full of questions, ain`t I?
Agh, there`s another one!

I may be wrong, but unless the wiring is substantially different than the
128 you should be able to plug a tape deck into the sound out and use that.

I would have thought you'd be better off taking the signal from the RGB out
and wiring it up to a SCART or summat.
-Andrew
anyone know of anyplace where such a cable can be _bought_ and not
necessarily made up? I'm looking for 128K+ RGB -> SCART or preferably phono
...
/me is not a cable person - I just trust Maplin catalogue most of the time
:(

there's a pin-out in the 128K manual, so shouldn't be _too_ bad ... ;) I'll
probably give the guys in my local Mappy a buzz later in the week.
