Hmm, interesting.

It could be that an artist ("STU") took screenshots from the MSX version and
modified them slightly to be displayable on the Spectrum. These could then
have been used for promotional purposes, but the final game turned out to be
nothing like the mocked-up screenshots.

So, it's likely that the better version did not exist at all. (The
alternative scenario would be like the C64 R-Type game, with one version
taking too long and getting canned and another version getting started
roughly 10 seconds before the deadline).

It would be nice if it did exist, just as it would be nice if there was a
better version of Salamander!

(It's a shame that the Spectrum seems to have so few "prototype" games...)

Nah, the MSX version looks nothing like that.

Having had another peek... I must have had a rather rosy memory of the MSX
version. It bears, at best, a passing resemblance.
