Hello all (long see no time),

I've just had an email from someone at the BBC (hilariously calling me
Alan) asking if I want to be interviewed about the 30th anniversary of the
Speccy. Unfortunately, I'm not in or around London, so can't take part.

Here's the email:

----

I work at BBC World Service radio as a video journalist and I'm hoping to
do something for the 30th anniversary of the Spectrum on April 23th.
Ideally I'm looking for an enthusiast who can talk me around the machine
and what it can do. I'm hoping to make a short on-demand video for the
BBC website and record something for the World Service radio programme
Witness which looks back at key moments in history.

As there isn't much time, I'm really hoping to find someone in or around
London who has a couple of hours to spare in the next day or so. It would
have to be someone who owns an original machine (rather than playing
emulation games on a modern PC) so we can look around it.

If there's any way you can help or if you know people I could contact I'd
be really grateful if you could contact me, either by email or on either
of the numbers below.

-----

Please let me know if you're interested and I'll pass the contact details
on.

The BBC has some very capable journalists working for the World
Service and a couple of years ago
a young journalist interviewed her grandfather Thomas Vickers for the
Click program.

That particular journalist had a soft spot for the ZX Spectrum as her
father wrote the BASIC system and the
manual.

Not necessarily the same one but there are other good journalists
worth meeting.

The BBC probably remember you from the piece you did for BBC East
which came over well.

Sadly, Sky Baudband prevents me from listening in.

I remember it well. I've since done a video for schools, and a couple of
weeks ago was in the paper for running a day on text adventures in a
school :)

The Fame Train rattles on.

I received the same email - there was me thinking it had a personal touch by
having my name, but no, it would appear that she just calls everyone Alan in
some kind of Trigger-from-"Only Fools and Horses"-Dave sort of way.

Turns out she's had to cancel it now anyway. Oh well.
