Subject: irix 4.05f application(s) on new(er) irix ?
hi all,

having approx 30 indy's (R4000) and given the fact that efs is a bit
outdated as a filesystem we may want to update  the system to a more
recent irix.

we have full backups and the like, we have irix 5.3 on CD so we could
dive in the deep and just try one system to update. if it fails, just
roll back the stuff and we're done. eventually we could try to fetch
irix 6.5.x.

the question is.... is there a possibility that the applications we have
(a flight simulator package esp written for our company) don't work
anymore or is the chance slim that it dowesn't work ?

the stuff works just fine btw, there is no real need, except maybe for
filesystem performance and the fact that the almost 10 years old drives
fail all over the place and anything > 8 GB is not supported with efs
(give or take a few megabytes that is).

please only post, no mails.
