Recently I inquired to a New York City discreet reseller about
discreet's edit* option 3 for the O2. I'm interested in using my O2
for uncompressed video capture, editing, compositing, and post
production. The representative who contacted me said that trying to
work with uncompressed video on the R10K O2 (specifically) has been
historically problematic - something about a motherboard problem. The
R5K and RM5200 O2s are supposedly not affected. Has anyone else ever
heard this or experienced problems related to this?

My O2 is an R10K 250MHz model. Up until now I've had no trouble
capturing analog video using the built-in MJPEG hardware compression or
the DVLink option card. I've been planning on buying a Medea videoRAID
for use with the O2 for capturing uncompressed video, but this latest
information comes as a surprise.

Is there a known history of uncompressed video I/O issues with the
R10K O2? Are R12K models affected as well? Please advise.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad my machine is not affected.

That issue (which was certainly present on O2 R10K-175) was fixed on the O2

R10K-195 and higher motherboards, IIRC. Nowadays, though it has higher latency
to memory, it has even slightly higher bandwidth to memory.

A history, yes.

Not in the same measure (see above). You certainly can't extrapolate from
problems seen on the *first* R10K O2s.
