There is this large metal hook on the back end - should I press
it downwards ?

From the manual:
Facing the front of the Indy ,place your right thumb on the small
channel at the back of the cover (in the center by the metal tab), and
your second and third fingers under the finger ledge,
Snap the cover loose by bracing your thumb against the lip and pushing
up the finger ledge with the second and third fingers, followed by a
small push to toward the front.
Slide the cover forward about 1 inch and tilt it up to remove it.

Opening the Indy box was the most masochistic experience in my life.
One of our Indys opens easily, just as they say in the manual,
to open the others, one has to pry the top off with a crowbar.
Why on Earth did they not just use normal screws?
