Dear All,
I have a couple of Revo's, a Seies 5 4mb, and a series 3 Psion lurking
because they have ceased working and my Series 5mx is the one I use
every day.
Does any one know if there is a market for these at all for spares or
is anyone tempted to make a reasonable offer at all?
Many thanks anyway for all the invaluable views and news in the group
Regards to all

I was thinking of asking for a series-5 on freecycle on the basis that there
are probably lots of redundant ones not yet thrown away. So I'm not a
"market". But I certainly took my series-3 machines apart to make minor
repairs (screen cable; power socket and so forth). Dunno if series-5
machines are similar...

Yes, there is a market. Depending on the condition, prices vary from
nearly free to over £50. I'm watching a few Ebay bids at the moment
just to get a feel for the condition of the units being sold and the
price they sell for.

I am going to sell my old Psions on Ebay. There's bound to be someone
looking for them and if they bring a small value to me and a big value
to the buyer, then everybody's happy :-) I've not yet decided whether
to sell my loot as a single bundle, or each item by itself.

1 x Series 5 (8MB) +
1 x Series 5mx (16MBB) +
1 x Series 5mxPro (32MB)
plus a box full of accessories.

By the way, I switched from S5mx to iPhone 3G some months ago, and I'm
not fully convinced. The iPhone is an amazing device, but I sorely
miss a proper keyboard!! No handheld _ever_ has offered anything close
to the Psion keyboard.

Regards from Austria,
Torben

Because my Loox (WM5.0) has USB host, I have just bought a "Zippy" miniature
USB keyboard to use with it. (I don't really like the 3 varieties of
on-screen text input it offers.) The Zippy is 50% wider than my Psion 3mx
but the keys only slightly smaller than my desktop keyboard. (Z-M occupies
same space as Z-N on latter.) Other problem is flakiness of USB host; e.g.
switching off while using it requires a soft reboot to get it going again!

Mike.

Hi Torben,

I'm looking for a spare Series 5mxPro (32MB) since the one I'm writing
this on is my last functioning one (3 screen cables broken, 1 keyboard
failure). If you are interested in selling yours directly you might
want to contact me via pm. I even will be in Austria next month, maybe
we can get in touch there, though I doubt we are in the same region.

Several persons have asked to buy my 5mxPro. I've replied as above,
that I haven't decided on a price yet. I'm still watching the market
so I can determine what's reasonable, and I see prices at and above
GBP 50 excluding P&P and without any accessories.

I don't want to encourage a bidding war, and it's difficult to be
fair. Should I put it on eBay and post the link here? Should I accept
secret bids, and accept the first one or the highest one? While
writing this post, I started adding a description of each machine and
all the accessories, but it became too lengthy. I think, after all,
that I ought to put everything on eBay this weekend and then post the
links. I hope I'm not making enemies this way.

I just posted the items for sale and also posted a message in this
group.
(To avoid spamming, I'm not repeating it here.)

Best regards,
