Does anyone have any suggestions for spreadsheet programs on the
PalmIIIx?
I sync using MacPac 2.1 and require something that I can work on
in the Palm, and then upload for changes on the Mac (using Excel), and
then of course download it back to the palm?
Thanks in advance!
Dave
Right now there isn't one. This is the biggest hole in the Palm/Mac
relationship at present. I think Quicksheet and MiniCalc may come up
with something pretty soon. Does anyone out there know anything?

If quicksheet allows syncing to the PC for use in Excel, why couldn't
you open it in Excel 98 for the Mac? I have found absolutely seamless
integration of files between Excel 98 for Mac and Excel 97 for windows.
Is the problem that there is no way of extracting the spreadsheet from
the Palm to the Mac in the first place?

As I understand it, the Quicksheet conduit converts the quicksheet .pdb file
into a (coded) text file (.qsh in Windows) which is then imported into Excel.
You cannot import a .pdb file directly into Excel for Windows.

That's correct. I've been complaining about the lack of Mac support for
ages. It has been promised for over a year, if memory serves. But we are
still waiting. To put it bluntly, that sucks.
In the meantime, version 4.0 has come out -- still with no Mac support.
I appreciate the free upgrade, but I'd rather see Mac support given that
it was promised.

I have tried this. The Java works fine. The problem comes after I have
loaded the PiMc file onto my Palm. I try to open the database and get
the message "Blah can be opened by registered user only". After that if
I try to open another file I invariably get a "FATAL EXCEPTION" crash.
I'm only going to register if I know for sure I can transfer some of my
spreadsheet operations from my Mac on to my Palm. How do I know that
after registering anyway that the crashes will not continue? With PiMc
as it is I can not test the conversion program.

That's great news, if it can be believed! However, given past
performance, I'm not holding my breath. Keep us posted if you hear more.

If you just need to view spreadsheets, Documents To Go from DataViz is great.
It syncs spradsheets, word processor & text docs from the Mac or PC to the
Palm. As they change on the desktop, DTG syncs those changes to the
Palm. [www.dataviz.com]
