i wouldn't not expect unlocked Pre's before Sprints exclusivity
ends. As for the price, I think you can already buy a Pre without a
2 year contract with Sprint, check the price of that, and I think
you have a good guess of the price for an unlocked.

Well first it has to get past Sprint's exclusivity period which is
anywhere from three to six months depending on who you ask.
The GSM model has been making the rounds of the gadget blogosphere. So
it will likely show up in Europe and/or East Asia in a few months with
an unlocked model showing up soon afterwards.
My guesstimate? An official unlocked GSM Pre will probably show up
early next year at around $549 with even more expensive imported
models available on ebay by November.
The wildcard in this game is probably the Eos which will Palm's next
webOS device. Assuming the Pre is selling as well as Palm claims it
is, the GSM Eos is likely to appear around Christmas on AT&T for as
low as $99 along with an unlocked version selling for perhaps around
$349. (The Eos is basically a stripped down Pre -- fixed keyboard with
no slider and half the storage.)

But "unlocked" was yesterday - new trick is to close out the possibility
of configuring network settings. So, if your providers SIM is not in the
Palm Pre database, it will not work.
