I feel sad. But have a little hope that it's not true that Avantgo
really will disappear. Does anyone know if "After June 30, 2009,
AvantGo will no longer be providing mobile Web content for sync or
online access, and you will not be able to access or update your
AvantGo content or account. " means that they only will quit sync with
mobile phone or is it total closedown of Avantgo?

For me it's been a vital part in my life for many years now to be able
to bring with me updated news from many different newspapers and read
when ever possible - having a cup of coffe relaxing wherever I've
been.

I know there are other applications like iSilo but no other
application that I've tried has been as good as Avantgo to get updated
news easily synced to the palm and nicely packed.

Alas; it certainly looks to be true. This is kind of sad -- I'd used it
for years; in a world where everyone assumes you've got instantaneous
access to the 'net, and you're a subway rider, having information cached
onto your Palm like this was a godsend.

With my change to a T5, though, it started breaking my system, and I had
to abandon them years ago. I thought of it as more an issue of the
application that had been last compiled c2002 or so trying to run on a
modern OS (and, oddly, the system botched, not the app). They didn't put
much into that app, and seem to have abandoned the Palm for the
blackberry. Hey; if you're online, why have a cached local copy?

I'm going to be looking at "snac" though -- and see what that's all
about. It _was_ nice having my favorite web sites and such readily
accessible on my Palm (and maybe it'll give me something to use my Palm
for now other than DateBk6)

I abandoned Avantgo very quickly in favour of Plucker. Once you get
some regex-fu going you can do some really clever crawling of your
favourite websites and always have up-to-date reading material in your
pocket.

Over the last year I gave up on synching my palm altogether, though,
so instead now I mostly get ebooks and read those in PalmReader. It's
more satisfying to finish a book than constantly cruise a never-ending
stream of news.
