2 weeks ago I noticed that Mail.app didn't get the mail from 1 of my 2 IMAP
accounts (set to collect mail every 5 minutes). The other account, on the
same server continued working normally. The problem was solved after a
reboot.

Yesterday the other account was stuck in the same way. This time a relaunch
of Mail.app sufficed. Strange and nasty problem. Anyone experiencing similar
problems? Any permanent solutions except switching to another e-mail client?
(I am considering Thunderbird now).

System:
Intel iMac, 24", 2.8 GHz, 4 Gb RAM
Snow Leopard 10.6.1
Mail 4.1

In the current Mail.App:

Window -> Connection Doctor and once in that window: Show details. You
get to see a log of actual transactions and this may give you a hint of
what is not working.

Thnx JF, but I'll have to wait until it happens again before this may show
anything.

Might be worthwhile to get a reading on it when it's working right; then
you'll have a benchmark to compare to. Then too, you may find out that
it's having problems every time, but most of them not severe enough to
cause the fetch to fail.

I will try, Isaac, but so far there is no report at all: The lights are
all green and the textboxes are empty.

Mail corrupts its local cache occasionally. The menu Mailbox -> Rebuild
fixes it. A recent server update at work reduces the occurrences but
there are still cases where it can happen.

Thnx Kevin. I will try the rebuild.
