I noticed that while downloading album artwork with the new iTunes that
it goes for a while then hangs...
Any solution or is anyone else having this problem?

I'm downloading the album artwork right now and sometimes the counter hangs
for several minutes. It's taken about two hours to complete half of the some
six hundred involved.

It will probably work fine once the rush has died down a bit.

Its a bit obvious but did you know that if you don't have an album
title
it won't download artwork. I wonder if there is a way to collect the
album
name(s) for a given song and artist?

Same problem. No solution.
Give it an hour to make sure it's not just slow.
Then restart iTunes & try again.

Yeah, apparently no ones written an Applescript to do that -- yet!

I'm not quite sure what you're asking for, but maybe this will help.

In Preferences:General, enable the "Show links to the iTunes Store"
option.

Click the little eye icon in the lower right corner of the main iTunes
browser window to turn on the three panel browser mode (Artist, album,
song). Note that the new Cover Flow view doesn't appear to allow this.

Little round icons appear next to any song you select in the song list
panel. If you click one of them, it takes you to the music store.
However, if you hold down the option key and click, it will select the
artist in the artist panel and reduce the album list to just the albums
for that artist and the songs to just the songs on those albums.

If you do a copy from the edit menu, you will get the list of stuff in
the song panel. You can then past it into an AppleWorks spreadsheet
window, say, and edit it to just the info you want.

The one thing I don't like is that the artist is selected in the artist
panel, but the list doesn't scroll to it. You can Tab to that list,
though, and press the up arrow and down arrows, once each, to get it to
be visible.

Hope that helps.

Not what you mean but you could do it manually,
http://discogs.com/
seems to have the biggest database that will produce a useful result for
your purpose, and has the advantage of being non-commercial with
thousands of contributors.

You know what would be an interesting project would be to be able to
connect to some
database on the internet and query for album name by artist and song
title...
