Is it normal that a company as rich as Apple stops supporting the G
series 6 months after the end of the extended guarantee while it has all
the OS X code in its hands and all that is left to do is compile it for
the PowerPC architecture?

Pretty much all Linux distributions support Mac's PowerPC line. How
come Apple doesn't?
