Xcode tracking photoshop resources?

I have a number of icons which are sourced from Photoshop files.

I want to be able to have Xcode generate their .icns equivalents.
Currently I manually do this via Icon Composer, and I mark the source
folder as not part of the application target, os it's not copied out. I
want to be able to edit and track in Xcode / subversion but I want get
their icns counterparts created by Xcode.

Is this correct (the source setup)?

How does one use automater or ? tool to get the process automated within
Xcode and if so how? I've tried automater and find it daunting. TIA
