How can I print from my Windows PC to the USB printer on my airport?
I've found surprisingly little info to say if it's even possible.
The closet was the link below posted in this n.g. but unfortunately it
is no longer valid.

(Sure, the obvious answer is replace my windows PC with an apple...
Or to set up a shared printer over samba,
but both computers are mobile laptops so not always available/on
to provide a share.
That's why the Airport would provide the ideal solution.

Chad, I have a similar problem. I'd like to print from my PC (Windows XP) to
a USB printer attached to a iMac. So far I have been unable to do it. If
you find the answer please let me know.

Thanks - Tom

Similar but slightly off topic. What you are asking is to set up one
computer as a host and share the printer to another computer either
going Mac->PC, or PC->Mac. I'm essentially trying to set up the
airport to function as a print server to windows since I need both Mac
and Windwos laptops to function without each other. so PC->Airport

But to answer your question, there are a number of sites/posts that
describe how to set up Samba to share resources between the two. (I
have not tried)
These might help:
http://www.18james.com/osx_printer_sharing.html
http://homepage.mac.com/william_white/print_to_samba.html

And if it is possible for you to go the other way and host the printer
on your PC instead, it may be a bit easier:

O.K. So far I've found this, which might work using XP. However I'm
running win98 which doesn't seem to have TCP/IP printing capability.
(of course that's a topic for another n.g.)
The text below was found at: http://www.macwindows.com/airportpc.html

====
TIP: Windows printing through Airport Extreme. July 15, 2003 -- Neal
Pann told us how he got Windows XP to print through Airport Extreme:

I had a problem concerning wireless printing from Windows XP through
an AirPort Extreme Base Station. (My Ti PowerBook was able to print
wirelessly.) I poked around Apple's support forums and discovered the
text below which worked for my USB Epson Stylus Color 740.

Here's what I did to set it up on my Windows box:

1. Selected "Settings->Printers->Add Printer" from the "Start" menu.

2. When the "Add Printer Wizard" comes up, click Next.

3. When prompted for Local or Network Printer, make sure the "Local
printer" radio button is selected and that the "Automatically
detect..." checkbox is OFF and then click Next.

4. In the "Select the Printer Port" screen, click the "Create a new
port" radio button, select "Standard TCP/IP Port" from the popup and
click Next.

5. The "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" will pop up, click
Next in that window now.

6. In "Printer Name or IP Address" I put "10.0.1.1" and let it
generate "IP_10.0.1.1" as the port name, click Next.

7. For "Device Type" in this next wizard screen I made sure "Standard"
was the radio button selected and then I selected "Hewlett Packard Jet
Direct" in the popup menu, click Next.

8. In the Finish screen, it'll say "RAW, Port 9100" for Protocol and
"10.0.1.1" in the Device field, click Finish and that wizard will
close.

9. The Add Printer Wizard will now go to a new screen, for you to
select the type of printer you have. Select the printer type and model
and click Next. You may need your Windows CDs handy if it asks for
them.

10. Click Next again for it to be the default printer.

11. Click Next again because you don't want to share it through the
Windows PC.

12. Click Next so that it prints a test page.

13. Click Finish.

It'll do its thing and a test page will come out of the printer.

I don't have an Airport Extreme at hand, just a Graphite and a
Netgear PS111W print server, and having experienced print server
frustrations myself, I felt for you, though my answer might be
somewhat inaccurate, and it is of course untested. --

A Google search "airport windows usb print" turned out
<http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2003072510530643>
pretty quickly. The gist is, <rawquote>print to as a Standard TCP/IP
Port on 10.0.1.1 (the BaseStation's IP address) using Raw LPR to Port
9100</rawquote>.

I hope this helps,

-Andre
