Is this a common problem? Can anything be done about it?
I am running 10.4.11.
I'm pretty sure I recall correctly that Apple has fixed numerous similar
bugs since Mac OS 10.4.

I also recall a frequent problem along these lines, and a so-called fix.
But after a while, it began occurring again on my late-2007 MBP. For
me, however, it's never happened mid-activity, instead happening only
after a period of inactivity. Sometimes the first keystroke attempting
to wake from sleep isn't detected, for instance, and a second is needed.
Or on opening the lid, the first keystroke for selecting an account for
login isn't recognized. And so on. It's mostly just annoying, but even
more so after having once had it acknowledged and at least temporarily
corrected.

So it was corrected at some point and has reappeared. I guess I can
live with it (I have been living with it) but it is annoying. It is
particularly annoying when I am trying to log into a web site and don't
notice that the first letter didn't take.
Amen to that!
